The casual hiker or thru back-backer can easily access the Sheltowee Trace National Recreational Trail. Named “Best Kid-Friendly Hikes in Kentucky” by hikers on www.AllTrails.com, Vanhook Falls, a 5-mile round trip hike leads to a 40-ft tall waterfall and has other water features along the trail.
Mountain biking enthusiasts will be stoked for the 11-mile Laurel Lake Trail. It is ranked #3 of 101 mountain bike trails in Kentucky and #302 in the world according to www.SingleTracks.com. Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park is home to “The Broken Spoke”, a 5.5-mile loop through the park designed for both mountain bikers and hikers.
Known as “The Cycling Capital of Kentucky”® London Kentucky offers rural roads with scenic and challenging routes. The Redbud Ride, an annual ride, moved to October 10 due to COVID Pandemic, which offers 4 different routes from the beginner to advanced rider.
Paddling and Fishing
Whether it’s by kayak, stand up paddleboard, or boat, discover the 5,600 acres Laurel River Lake filled with quiet coves, cliff-lined shores and offers a beach maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. It is an excellent location to spend a lazy afternoon after fishing for popular black bass, rainbow trout, walleye, crappie, bluegill, and catfish.
Motorcycles, Jeeps, and Off-Road
“Route of Parks” 182- mile motorcycle route adventures to Cumberland Falls State Park, Pine Mountain State Park, Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, and Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park. For the offroad thrill-seeker, discover the Kentucky Adventure Tour, a 1,000-mile loop around the hills and mountains of southeastern Kentucky.
